Yes. You may choose a specific sector listed on the website, or a specific organisation or project. Detailed organisational or project information will be made available on request. Only with the permission of the donor will their details be shared with the recipient organisation.

You can either make an ongoing or once-off donation. You can decide to which degree you would like to extend support. The specific donation to a project will be considered by the joint committee an included in the allocation of funds to the preferred organisation.

General donations to the Cape Care Fund will be disclosed to the joint committee and a decision on the allocation of funds will be made on the priority needs identified by DSD in the Province. These priority needs may change from time to time depending on the type of support required by entities at any given time. Information about the various projects that may need support can be found on the Cape Care Fund website and donors can choose from the list of organisations or projects that require assistance.

The Cape Care Fund operates within stringent governance structures and proof of support will be made available via the website as well as the quarterly newsletters that will be uploaded on the Cape Care Fund website.

In addition to monitoring and evaluation, the Cape Care Fund will be subject to all the governance procedures of THF and the financial accounts will be reviewed monthly by the CEO, quarterly by the Audit, Finance and Risk Committee and annually by the THF external auditors. The performance of the Cape Care Fund will also form part of the THF annual report, and made available online via the THF and Cape Care fund websites and social media pages.

The criteria to receive funding will be subject to organisations that have been vetted, are registered, compliant, and well-functioning non-profit organisations and non-governmental organisations with a proven track record of quality service delivery in the social sector, in the Western Cape with DSD.

Social sector priority needs will be identified by DSD, and THF will issue a call for proposals related to this need. All applications for funding will be reviewed by the joint committee and recommendations will be made for qualifying organisations to the DSD HOD for final verification for organisations that meet the above criteria and will be able to assist in the priority needs identified.

The funding criteria, as mentioned before, will be based on the priority needs identified by DSD and compliance with the application process. Should a private donor, however, express their intention to support a specific organisation, the joint committee will review the request and THF will contact the organisation to provide an application for funding subject to the conditions of the private donor.
