The Cape Care Fund has its own designated bank account for the receipt of donations through various online giving platforms as well as direct deposits into this bank account. All donations are ring-fenced and a confidential record is kept of all donations received. These records are only shared with DSD for the purpose of transparency and disclosure of all transactions. The name of the donor will only be disclosed upon their approval, however, the donor will still be eligible for a S18A donation certificate for all donations made in the respective tax year and the S18A certificate will be issued to the donor at the end of the financial year of THF which is February each year.
Decisions related to the allocation of donations to eligible projects will be vetted by a committee with joint representation of DSD and THF. THF will issue a call for proposals and all grant applications will be reviewed by the joint committee. Eligible organisations will be informed in writing of the decision of the joint committee who will submit the recommended organisations to the DSD Head of Department (HOD),and, if approved, will receive a grant agreement from THF for the proposed deliverables related to the call for proposals. THF will monitor and evaluate the performance of the compliance related to the grant agreement and provide DSD with regular updates on the project performance.
